BELLIGHTNING’s second release is titled BELLASTRA (London).
BELLASTRA is a collaborative improvisation tool and process. It starts with a 30-minute field recording made during a walk, which is split into 30 one-minute tracks. Ten tracks are sent to each of the three BELLIGHTNING members, who improvise responses guided by the BELLASTRA random prompt generator. These improvised parts—without the original field recordings—are then passed sequentially between additional collaborators, with BELLASTRA shaping each response.
The outcome is 30 one-minute pieces, each layered with individual improvisations from all collaborators.
BELLIGHTNING consists of JS Adams (electronics), Katie English (bass flute), and Mark Kluzek (accordion).
